I started my Air Force career in basic training at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, Texas, June 16th, 1975.
I then spent nearly a year training at Chanute AFB, Rantoul, Illinois, training to be a Flight Simulator Technician.
I reported to Holloman AFB, Alamogordo, New Mexico, and served as a Flight Simulator Technician there for three years.
I cross-trained into a Computer Programmer for three months at Keesler, AFB, Biloxi, Mississippi.
I spent the next three years at Head Quarters Air Force Logistics Command, at Wright-Patterson AFB, Dayton, Ohio.
I next had an opportunity to travel overseas when I was stationed at Yongsan Army Garrison, Seoul, South Korea for three years. I was the system programmer on a small computer system connected to the WWMCCS network.
My final assignment, one that lasted for almost ten years, was in Colorado at a base originally known as Falcon AFS (Air Force Station), then Falcon AFB, and finally Schriever AFB. Its all the same place, just different names. I even had the same job through all those name changes, and after I retired from the Air Force I signed on as a contractor supporting the Air Force's Global Positioning System, and continued doing the same job.
