The Family Tree Database uses your e-mail address as your user ID because your e-mail address is unique and easy for you to remember. Using your e-mail address as your userid also allows this web site to send you a temporary password if you forget the one you choose when you registered.

This web site will never send you "spam", or sell your e-mail address.

Although your e-mail address is unique, many people know it. Combined with a password, that you choose and only you know, your identity (your e-mail address) is authenticated (you are the owner of your e-mail address).

No, I cannot, and I am not being rude. The reason is because your password was encrypted when you choose it and I do not know what it is. I can, however, reset your password. This web site can randomly generate a temporary password, and send it to your e-mail address. When you use this temporary password the next time you logon, you will be prompted to choose another permanent password.

You may change your e-mail address, (and therefore your userid to this web site). You will need your old e-mail address and your Family Tree web site password, so my web site can locate your record, and authenticate your identity. Then your new e-mail address will replace your old one.
